Procedure for Admissions

1The number of seats available in each discipline will be notified in the Institutional website and through advertisement in at least two National newspapers (including one regional language).

2The candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria shall fill the application form available on the University website.

3The Ph.D Entrance Test (P.E.T.) will be conducted for the specializations in which applications are received. The entrance test shall be conducted at University on the date notified in the advertisement. The written entrance test for Ph.D will be conducted twice in a year for all candidates in the month of February and August. The syllabus for the written test shall consist of two portions, viz., Research Methodology (50%) and Subject Specific (50%).

4The examination cell of the University will conduct the Ph.D Entrance Test (P.E.T.). The qualifying marks for the test will be 50%, and a relaxation of 5% of marks will be given to the candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC (Non-Creamy) and other reserved categories as mentioned in UGC Ph.D regulations. The examination cell will forward the result to the office of the Registrar and will be notified on the University website. The selection of candidates will be based on the entrance test conducted by the University, a weightage of 70% for the entrance test and 30% for the performance in the interview/ viva-voce shall be given.

5The candidates are required to appear before the duly constituted Departmental Research Committee (DRC) and discuss their research interests through a presentation. The interview shall consider the competence, and suitability of the research area of the candidate undertaking the research program.

6The applicant who has qualified NET/JRF/GATE will be exempted from Ph.D Entrance Test (P.E.T.), and their selection will be based upon the performance in the interview.

7The selected candidates are required to pay the prescribed fee and will be admitted to Ph.D provisionally. The candidates will be issued letter of admission.

8If at any time after the admission, it is found that a candidate has not fulfilled all the requirements as stipulated, the University may revoke the admission of the candidate with the approval of the Vice Chancellor.

9NRI/ PIO/ Foreign Nationals shall hold valid passport/ visa, and clearance from the agencies as mandated by the Government of India.

The list of candidates qualifying entrance test will be displayed on the University Website. The selected candidates will appear for interview on the date notified on University Website. The candidates are required to prepare the project proposal and present it before the interview panel.
Ph.D. Admission Guidelines
Eligibility for Ph.D. Admissions
Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. program shall have successfully completed Master’s degree programme (after undergraduate degree) or a Dual degree (UG+PG) program or an integrated Master’s degree program with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC10-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions.
- A candidate seeking admission directly after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.
- A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC (non-category layer)/ Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time, or for those who have obtained their Master’s degree before 19th September, 1991.
